(22/7) Competition Explanation

As you all are aware of, (22/7) will be our Taekwondo Competition at school

Location: Stadium

Time: 7.00am-6.00a.m (approximately)

-members’ bags and shoes can and only be placed on the stairs at the back of the stadium.

-If there was an emergency and you need to leave in the middle of the competition, please inform our ajks or instructors and state your reason.

-For any further questions about the competition, please feel free to ask any one of the seniors, ajks or instructors.

-Lunch will only be provided. It will be given in the middle of the competition.

Competition Rules

-Members must participate the events they have confirmed to take part in. Any denial is unacceptable.

There are 3 categories

Individual Poomsae/ Team Poomsae

Members must follow and present their Poomsae from their belt category.

White belts- Basic stances, basic punches/ kicks

Yellow belts- Taeguek 1 & 2

Green belts- Taeguek 3 & 4

Blue belts- Taeguek 5 & 6

Red belts- Taeguek 7 & 8

– After entering the ring, please bow to the instructors before proceeding to start your Poomsae. (As for the state of respect)

-There will be an instructor stating to either do by ‘own time’, or ‘by number’. ‘own time’ meaning to count your steps stances on your own (counting out loud is not necessary). While ‘by number’ means that the instructor will state the step counts for you.

-Please bow back to the instructors after your Poomsae is finished. (As for the state for respect)

Sparring

– Protection gear, (Head gear, Body gear, Hand/Leg gear, groin gear) and a mouth guard is required for this event. (Any item missing from the above list will be imeadiately disqualified.)

-We advice you that self preparation of gear is recommended. For purchases of gear and mouth guards,  please contact one of the ajks.

-If you have no protection equipment, you can use the school’s protection gear. But mouth guards are not providable from the school

-‘Chong’ is blue, ‘Hong’ is red

– The referee will state to bow, then after that you can only wear in your HEAD gear.

When the match starts

– Contestants are not allowed to punch each other’s face/head. Doing so will be a -1/2pt or -1pt penalty. If the one of the contestants is knocked out by the other’s head punch, the one who punched will be instantly disqualified.

-Although punching a knockout is forbidden, landing a kick on the head and obtaining a knockout with that will provide an instant win.

-Contestants can and only hit above the contestants’ belt level. Kicking multiple times below the belt level might receive a penalty.

-No pushing/hugging is allowed, escaping and running away from the constestant is also not allowed. Doing so will be a -1/2 penalty

-Constestants are not allowed to leave the second area of the fighting ring. Doing so will be a -1/2 penalty

-Accidentally Falling down is a -1/2 penalty. Falling down from a normal kick from the other user is also a -1/2 penalty

How to receive points (may change without further notice)

Normal kicks on front/back middle section +1 pt per

Body 360° turned kicks on front/back middle section  +2 pt per

Normal kicks onto head/face section +3 pt per

Body 360° turned kicks onto head/face section +4 pt per

Punches onto the middle section (+1 if punch is able to greatly knock back the user, pts provided from this condition are rare)

Other mentionable rules

-Constestants must have coaches to sit at the back/outside of the ring. Coaches are provided with a card. The card is only usable when a player has scored a +3 or more (which is only for head kicks) but was not displayed on the pts screen. The card can be used if raised up. Referees will receive the card if so, and they will commence a conversation. To decide if the pts is acceptable. The pts may either add in or not. The card varies for only one time use for the entire matching.

Team Breaking

Constestants are required to prepare a show for the judges. They are required to break a certain amount of planks in a certain amount of time.

Constestants not being able to finish all planks in time, will have their pts slowly reduced depending on the amount of overtime counts.

Constestants can dazzle up their creativity in the performance to increase their pts. (Dances, Stunts)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Training report (01 July 2017)

Taekwondo training 

Date     : 01 July 2017

Time    : 07.30 a.m. ~ 10.00 a.m.

Venue : PCGHS Stadium

 

We gathered inside the stadium as usual. After instructors arrived, we started our training. At the first, instructors lead us for warm-up. After a 15 minutes short break, Instructors separated us into groups by our belt colour.  After that, instructors taught us taeguek and basic stances. Then we ended our training on 01 July 2017.

Training report (24 June 2017)

Taekwondo training 

Date     : 24 June 2017

Time    : 07.30 a.m. ~ 10.00 a.m.

Venue : PCGHS Stadium

 

We gathered inside the stadium as usual. But a thing which not same as usual happened, two form 6 students have joined us for the training. After instructors arrived, we started our training. In the training, instructors decided let us have a chasing game as our warm-up. After that instructors taught us taeguek and basic stances. Then we ended our training on 24 June 2017.
